I was doing some searching around the web this week and found an interesting post on the WoW forums regarding an Ironman Challenge. I decided to take part in the challenge and see how far I could get. The rules are quite simple:

You CANNOT
- Equip any items other than Grey or White
- Use any talent points.
- Learn any professions, except for First Aid.
- Group with other players, including in Dungeons and Battlegrounds.
- Use food or drink of a higher level than vendor-quality white items.
- Enchant your items, or use glyphs, Scrolls and potions. (Excluding class-specific self-buff enchantments such as Shaman weapon enchantments)
- Buy items on the Auction House.
- Get gold from other players, or alts.
- Create a Death Knight
- Die. If you die, you have to make a new character at level 1 and start over.

I’m on day 2 of the challenge and just hit level 10 on my Troll Druid. The majority of the people seem to be playing on either the US or EU Earthen Ring servers so if you’re looking to give it a try, check out the Ironman WoW site at http://ironmanwow.freeforums.org.

I’ll post more updates on this later

I’m still in awe at how quickly one can level in this game these days. I have successfully taken my Mage from 1 to 60 in a little over 1 week with a /played time of approximately 2 days. That is quite amazing to me, especially with no leveling enhancements (other than the guild perk) like heirlooms or triple experience from refer-a-friend. If there was good money to be made in selling WoW gaming characters, I would definitely look into starting something up part-time and making some extra cash on the side.

I had mentioned before about the nice drop I picked up when leveling through Stranglethorn Vale. This drop gave me more than enough gold at such an early stage of the game on a brand new server that I’m still finding it hard to believe. When I put it up on the auction house, it sold within minutes and then it was only a matter of waiting by the mailbox for the gold to arrive

So exciting!

It’s been a few days since I posted and as promised, this time I have screenshots! I started playing this new character last week on June 7th and last night I made it to level 53. I didn’t play all that much to be honest, the biggest reason I’ve been leveling so fast is due to:

Blizzard has done an excellent job at revamping the old zones and has really improved quest progression.

The guild I joined has a lot of guild perks, including the 10% bonus to experience. It is almost like having having leveling heirlooms on all the time.

Leveling has been easy. A lot easier than I’ve ever experienced before in WoW. Having the random dungeon finder there has really helped and the experience you get from running a random is insane.

I’ve also been impressed with some of the new gear that Blizzard has put into the game for us lower level players. It is nice not to run around Azeroth looking like we just got out of bed and are still in our P.Js. I mean take a look at Ingold when he was around level 40; talk about a Ninja Mage Some of the gear is just simply cool looking and I’ve been constantly surprised at some of the – seemingly – random loot I’ve been getting that has a very unique look to it. Hell, my new Mage looks “cooler” at level 53 than my other Mage does at 85; what’s up with that?

This weekend I’ve been focusing mostly on my Mage, despite the fact my Hunter is maybe a couple hours of questing away from 85. I don’t know what it is about the Mage that I like, but I’ve been having a lot of fun playing him. It may have something to do with the fact that Blizzard has done a …
Read More

This weekend I’ve been focusing mostly on my Mage, despite the fact my Hunter is maybe a couple hours of questing away from 85. I don’t know what it is about the Mage that I like, but I’ve been having a lot of fun playing him. It may have something to do with the fact that Blizzard has done a great job with revamping all the starting zones and making quests and events flow together better. This weekend I finished off Redridge, Duskwood and Northern Stranglethorn.

For the most part the zones have had a complete overhaul with new quest hubs and story variations. It was nice to finally see the Lakeshire bridge get completed; I can’t remember how many times I did the Gnoll quest to get the parts they needed to finish it I also liked how the same quests in Duskwood took on a new flow and how they progressed in -basically- a straight line through the zone eventually leading me to Stranglethorn. At the end of my play time on Saturday I made it to level 35, which is quite amazing when you consider I started the character less than a week ago and I only played a couple hours each night.

I have also been leveling up Herbalism and Inscription which I plan on making some much needed money with. I couldn’t believe the price of some of the Glyphs on the Auction House and was happy to see some of the lower level Glyphs selling on the Auction House for around 50 gold. I quickly started making money and it hasn’t stopped. Of course I also hope to get some much needed Glyphs on my Mage as well, which isn’t easy for a new character on a new server when they go for 10 gold+ on the Auction House. I had the gold to buy a couple of them, but who wants to waste all their hard earned gold on Glyphs?

Last night I decided to level my Mage a bit and then stopped off on Suramar to play my Hunter. I had been sitting on the quest change to head to the Twilight Highlands, so I decided to move ahead with that chain and get into that zone.

Last night I decided to level my Mage a bit and then stopped off on Suramar to play my Hunter. I had been sitting on the quest change to head to the Twilight Highlands, so I decided to move ahead with that chain and get into that zone.

I was disappointed.

When Cataclysm came out, my friends and I were all playing Horde on the Medivh server. My only experience with the latest expansion has been Horde and I was looking forward to experiencing the expansion content from the Alliance side. Let me start by saying if you haven’t played as a Horde in the latest expansion, I HIGHLY urge you to do so. The event which takes the Horde into the Twilight Highlands is by FAR better than the Alliance one. In fact, the Alliance one left me sitting there scratching my head wondering what the hell just happened. There were also most quests to get the Portal open back to the capital city than on the Horde side which took me at least an hour to get through. Even the quests in Stormwind leading up to the Twilight Highlands were more than the Horde side. Granted the Horde quests take you to other places where the Alliance ones all take place in Stormwind.

I guess my biggest beef with the whole evening was the transition to Twilight Highlands. Again, if you haven’t done that on the Horde side yet, give it a go or even look it up on YouTube, it is well worth it.

If you’re looking for me, you’ll find me over on the US-Alexstraza/Alliance playing a lowbie Human Mage named Ingold. Why Ingold you ask? I used to be a fan of Barbara Hambly the author and I used to read the Darwath series. In that series, there was a wizard named Ingold. I really enjoyed the character and I have always wanted to play a Mage with the same name in a game; so now I am

I have some screenshots sitting on my drive at home which I will upload later to show everyone. Until then, happy hunting in Azeroth!

Hey everyone,

Figured this domain was just sitting here collecting dust so I decided to do something with it. I plan on doing some Warcraft blogging here once I get everything setup and running so check back later. I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do here, but whatever it is, it will be a lot better than what was here before

I recently fired up my WoW account again and have gone back to my original character on the US-Suramar server (Alliance). Most of my friends have moved on to other things so basically I’m starting over (at level 80). So far things have been fine. There is something about WoW that really keeps me coming back. Perhaps it is that familiar feeling I get when I’m playing, kinda like going back to your home town to visit after being away for awhile. There have been quite a few changes since I stopped playing a few months back, and I hope to get a chance to check out the new instances when I get to 85 and start gearing up.

If you happen by the US-Suramar server, look me up
